Acquisition of users requirements is one of the most important steps in conceptual database design. Database users have domain specific knowledge. but they have difficulties in constructing conceptual schema because of their lack of understanding of database design. Therefore. this thesis proposes a methodology to develop a conceptual database design support system using a semantic object model (SOM). User's requirements are analyzed by using enterprise forms. The proposed methodology consists of six phases such as (i) form analysis. (ii) form selection. (iii) object identification, (iv) attribute identification. (v) relationship identification, and (vi) integrity validation. A prototype is built within the framework of this methodology. Our methodology is more likely to enhance the quality of the database design process.
