As social uncertainty increases with the rapid development of science & technology, it is becoming increasingly difficult to predict and prepare for the future. This thesis seeks to use science fiction as a way to improve futures literacy, which is an essential capability to response to the rapidly changing future society. The concept and components of futures literacy, and the relationship between futures literacy and future scenarios were examined. Also, various definitions and subgenres of science fiction, and the relationship between science fiction and narrative were examined. From the perspective of futures literacy, science fictions were classified into three types, and each case study was conducted. There were derived that science fictions that inspired scientists to develop technology and science fictions that contributed to humanity by giving early warnings through insights into society that would change due to technological development. In addition, the science fiction 'Snow Crash', which proposed a new alternative for the future society and spread it socially, was quantitatively analyzed. Data on readers' and experts' reviews of 'Snow Crash' were collected, text mining was performed, and the extracted results were examined from the perspective of futures literacy. The current status of science fiction-related education in domestic and foreign universities was examined. As a way to utilize science fiction to improve futures literacy, it was examined the social influence of Neal Stephenson, the author of 'Snow Crash', and proposed benchmarking such futurists and SF writers. It was also proposed to strengthen science fiction writing education as a way to improve futures literacy. This thesis is meaningful in that it is a study that has attempted qualitatively and quantitatively to investigate and analyze science fictions to improve futures literacy. However, there were limitations in revealing the direct correlation of the influence received by SF readers through text mining. In addition, there is a limitation that the analysis was conducted centering on English-speaking works, and cases of other countries were not widely covered. In the future, research that makes various attempts to improve futures literacy by selecting various Science fictions from countries that were not covered in this thesis should be continued.
과학기술의 급격한 발달로 사회의 불확실성이 커지면서 미래에 대한 예측과 준비가 점점 더 어려워지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 급변하는 미래사회에 대응하고 적응해나가기 위한 필수역량인 미래문해력을 제고하기 위한 방안으로 과학소설의 활용을 제안하였다. 미래문해력의 개념과 구성요소, 미래문해력과 미래시나리오와의 연관성에 대해 살펴보고 과학소설의 다양한 정의와 하위장르, 과학소설과 내러티브의 관계에 대해서 고찰하였다. 미래문해력의 관점에서 과학소설을 3가지 유형으로 분류하고 각각의 사례에 대해 문헌조사를 하였다. 과학자들에게 영감을 주어 기술 개발의 단초가 된 과학소설을 교통, 통신, 군사, 바이오공학 등 분야별로 살펴보았다. 기술의 발전으로 인해 변화될 사회에 대한 통찰을 통해 조기 경보를 제공함으로써 인류의 삶에 기여한 작품들을 살펴보았다. 미래사회에 대한 새로운 대안을 제시하고 확산시킨 과학소설 'Snow Crash'를 텍스트마이닝을 통해 분석하였다. 아마존 독자 및 전문가 감상평 데이터를 수집하여 어휘빈도분석, IF-IDF 분석, 감성분석을 수행하고 추출되는 결과를 미래문해력의 관점에서 고찰하였다. 교육에서의 실제적 적용을 위해 교육현장에서 과학소설이 활용되고 있는 실태 및 국내외 대학에서 진행 중인 과학소설 관련 강의 현황을 살펴보았다. 미래문해력 향상을 위한 방안으로서 'Snow Crash'를 집필한 작가‘Neal Stephenson’이 사회적으로 끼친 영향력에 대해 고찰하고 그와 같은 미래연구자이자 SF 작가들의 특성을 벤치마킹할 것을 제안하였다. 또 미래문해력을 제고하기 위한 교육 방안으로 미래 시나리오로서 과학소설 쓰기 교육을 강화할 것을 제안하였다. 본 논문은 미래문해력의 관점에서 과학소설을 정성적·정량적으로 조사·분석을 시도한 연구라는 점에서 의의가 있다. 그러나 텍스트마이닝을 통해서 독자들이 SF 작품으로부터 받은 영향력 및 미래문해력과의 직접적인 상관관계를 밝히기에는 제약이 있었다. 또 영미권 SF작품 위주로 분석이 이루어져 다른 국가의 사례를 폭넓게 다루지 못하였다는 한계가 있다. 향후 본 논문에서 다루지 못한 국가에서 다양한 작품을 선별하여 미래문해력을 향상시키기 위한 여러가지 교육적 시도를 하는 연구가 지속되어야 할 것이다.
