Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been steadily concerned in the military or civilian fields since the 1930s, and UAVs have recently attracted attention as a next-generation technology alongside the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In particular, it has been designated as one of the game changers for future battlefields in the military and is being developed for various purposes such as transportation, disaster relief, and the construction industry in the private sector. However, compared to the various missions that UAVs have to perform, conventional UAVs have limitations in that they cannot diversify the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft. In particular, UAVs for small military units must be able to perform close operations and carry out various tasks at low altitudes, considering the operating radius. In this thesis, in order to overcome these limitations through a bio-inspired morphing wing UAV, we will discuss the contents of manufacture a morphing wing UAV and verifying improvement of its maneuverability, agility and power consumption according to the flight environment.
