More than 100 million people worldwide suffer from various aftereffects from stroke, which is a major obstacle that lowers the patient's quality of life and independence. Among them, various attempts have been made to recover motor functions in stroke patients, but most of them focus on motor-oriented rehabilitation methods. However, because sensory and motor functions are not independent of each other and form a sensorimotor system, impairment of sensory function also causes a decrease in motor function. In particular, proprioception plays an critical role in the motor control system as a sense that allows people to perceive movement without visual feedback. Therefore, in addition to motor rehabilitation, sensory feedback that can stimulate and recover prorprioception is needed. In this study, I proposed and validated feedback methods that effectively assist and stimulate proprioception using vibrotactile funneling illusion. Finally, vibrotactile feedback was integrated into wearable forearm rehabilitation orthosis to verify the effectiveness of stroke patients.
