Existing studies dealing with journalists' turnover have only focused on causes of turnover. Most of the studies cite as reasons of their turnover, the hierarchical organizational culture, psychological and physical exhaustion caused by heavy work, less pay compared to working hours, and widespread negative perceptions of readers and consumers about the media. This paper focuses on young journalists who moved to startups around 10th year of their career. This is the trend of turnover observed over the past two to three years. As a result of this study, it was observed that reasons of their turnover were different from those of their senior counterparts’. They thought that journalistic work suited them well and had no major complaints about the working conditions. However, they decided to change their jobs because they felt frustrated in the vertical decision-making structure and the media that had stopped growing. They found an organization with a horizontal decision-making structure and where they could work with initiative, and the environment where they can grow. As a result, they moved to a new area of startup. The study named them active turnover. Through them, this study points out that their careers could become more diverse after the reporter, and also pointed out the tasks that media companies need to solve to prevent the outflow of talent.
