Friction and wear behavior of solid lubricant embedded bearing was experimentally investigated. The experiments were conducted under atmospheric condition and water condition with various sliding speeds and various applied loads. Bearing steel was used as the disk material under pin-on-disk type sliding conditions. Friction coefficient, specific wear rate were measured. Wear surfaces were observed by optical microscope and SEM and analyzed by EDAX.
The results showed that solid lubricant film, sliding speed and applied load on sliding surfaces had significant influence on the friction coefficient and the specific wear rate of solid lubricant embedded bearing.
