A data acquisition and processing system has been developed to monitor and analyze vibration using an IBM P/C, A/D converter and a printer. The system can process the signals in time and frequency domains up to 8 channels. The system can be applied to various application fields, for example, hull global vibration, shaft vibration, trend monitoring, exciter test and the sea trial measurements. Vibration problems, therefore, can be promptly detected on sites.
The system has been applied to measure and analyze the vibration signals of ships during the sea trials and the trouble-shooting works. The comparison of the results from the previous and developed system shows that the developed system is reliable, efficient and easily to use. Trouble-shooting caused by the ship vibrations had been successfully accomplished using a new system.
