In the sense that non-contact interface can reduce the inconvenience of users, non-contact electroencephalogram(EEG) and electrocardiogram(ECG), compared to pre-existing systems with wet electrodes, are valuable technologies for designing wearable EEG and ECG acquisition devices. For this reason, non-contact wearable bio-potential acquisition devices are promising for continuous monitoring of chronic diseases and collection of physiological data for real-life healthcare. However, motion artifact occurs at non-contact interfaces is a major obstacle to measurement and interpretation of the measured bio-potential. In this study, theoretical backgrounds of non-contact bio-potential acquisition equipment, motion artifact removal method is presented with experiences in designing non-contact bio-potential acquisition devices on printed circuit boards and integrated circuits. In addition, a method to extract motion artifacts at the multiple non-contact interfaces by controlling the distance of and the voltage across the interface is introduced with motion artifact removal algorithm with adaptive filter utilizing the extracted motion artifact. The experimental results show that it is possible to extract motion artifact by controlling the distance and voltage of an interface, and also, the possibility and limitation of a technology for removing motion noise extracted using an adaptive filter are presented.
