This study attempted to explore relationship between consumers’ response to advertisement models and other behavioral responses (e.g., purchase intent) in the context of virtual human models (i.e., computer graphics-generated models). Based on the literature (e.g., Waytz, Cacioppo, & Epley, 2010), an experiment was designed and conducted using Korean adults aged between 20 and 49, which is an age group with significant purchase power that many corporate target. A series of statistical analyses using Repeated Measure ANOVA technique was conducted to answer hypotheses and research questions, finding a number of significant results in many cases, though there were no interactions between certain independent variables. Nevertheless, as predicted based on Waytz et al. (2010), individuals higher in anthropomorphic tendency responded more positively to virtual humans. However, real human models were preferred in terms of positive brand image and purchase intent. These results in terms of academic findings, and its managerial implications in the context of marketing strategy, are discussed toward the end of this thesis.
