High-speed interfaces are necessary to transmit and receive a large amount of data quickly and accurately. However, the transmission line which connects a transmitter and a receiver still has a large loss at high frequencies. In an attempt to overcome those challenges, a structure of a transmission line or a transceiver itself is continuously changing. In particular, a single channel connecting multiple transceivers at once is frequently being used at memory interfaces, placing multiple DRAM chips on a single circuit board as an example. However, when a channel with discontinuities is used, the integrity of a signal cannot be guaranteed due to the large reflections observed on both sides of a transceiver. Throughout the thesis, a single-ended transmitter, with pulse-based echo-compensated FFE, is suggested to compensate for those reflections right before sending its signal toward the receiver. The performance of a suggested transmitter is highly expected to overcome the limitation due to several stubs in the middle of a transmission line.
