This study recognizes the limitations of HML factor proposed by Fama and French and suggests new methods for building value stocks portfolio. In the process of enhancing the model, multiple value ratios were considered together whereas the HML factor only considered the book to market ratio. Furthermore, by taking trends of those financial ratios into account, both of individual parameters and composite models show effectiveness and incremental information that were not captured in Fama and French 6 factor model. By looking into the trends in value ratios, it helps to pick value stocks that have become more valuable (cheaper in price) over time and thus suggest a new value strategy. The strategy is then expanded into three different ways which further combines momentum into the value model.
본 연구는 Fama와 French가 제안한 가치주를 이용한 투자팩터인 HML이 가지고 있는 개선 가능한 점들을 인지하고 그 점들을 반영한 변형된 가치주 포트폴리오의 수익성과 통계적 유의성을 분석하였다. 하나의 가치 비율을 사용하기 보다는 여러 개의 비율들을 함께 고려하고, 그러한 비율들의 추세를 사용하여 새로운 가치주 포트폴리오를 구성해본 결과, 세가지 개별 비율 추세모델과 그를 통한 합성 가치 모델에서 전략이 효과적인 것을 보여주었고, 파마 프렌치 6 팩터 모델에서 포착되지 않는 증분 정보가 포함되어 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 비율들의 추세는 횡단면적으로 가치가 높은 주식을 고르는 것을 넘어 시간이 지남에 따라 가치가 높아지는 주식을 고를 수 있게 함으로써, 새로운 가치 투자 포트폴리오 생성 방법을 제시한다. 본 논문에서는 더 나아가 세가지 다른 방법으로 이러한 가치정보들을 모멘텀과 추가 결합시켜 전략을 확장하여 한국 시장에서 가치 비율의 추세를 이용한 투자의 성과를 살펴보았다.
