Recently, as interest in ESG has soared due to COVID-19, corporates with high ESG scores tend to show high returns. In this study, in order to find out the effect of ESG data, which is non-financial information of a company, on the stock return, a five-factor perm-french analysis was conducted by organizing a fifth-quarter portfolio according to ESG scores. Portfolio alpha tended to be generally higher as ESG scores were higher. In particular, the highest score portfolio alpha in all ESG sectors showed a higher value than the lowest score portfolio alpha, and the difference was significant. In addition, the Pharma-French 5-factor analysis of the ESG factor momentum portfolio consisting of companies with improved ESG scores showed different results in the Large-cap portfolio depending on the stock composition method, but the Small-cap portfolio alpha showed the highest value in the E sector.
