A mixed hybrid finite element method for the analysis of the electromagnetic field in eddy current problem is developed. In this study both electric field intensity and magnetic field intensity are used as unknowns and also to deal with problems that have moving parts, the tangential component of magnetic field intensity is treated as unknown at the interface of the moving domain and the stationary domain. This kind of situation can be found in the magnetic field analysis in an induction motor. This approach is expected to be effective in treating the three-dimensional problems where multi-connected regions exist.
Serveral elements are tested and the element which shows the most reasonable behavior is selected for the analysis.
For the verification of the formulation and the element selected, serval numerical problems are solved. Electromagnetic field in a transformer core problem is solved as the first numerical example. Secondly electromagnetic field around a conductor, which moves through a given magnetic field, is calculated and the result is compared with the solution obtained by potential method. Finally electromagnetic field in a simplified induction motor is calculated.
