Despite the difficulties in measuring the intangible asset of a company, how to measure it has been vigorously studied for its importance for a long period. Especially, the value of character in media industry has no appropriate method to quantitatively evaluate itself in spite of the industry’s rapid growth. This study, using SNA (Social Network Analysis) methodology, reveals the character network characteristics of media works have a correlation with human search behavior. To date, Research on applying the SNA methodology to media works has been actively conducted in a media field. This study, taking note of that media works have the power to influence human behavior, conducts the analysis based on the hypothesis that the character network characteristics can also influence human search behavior. The analysis finds the positive correlation between character network centralities and character search data, from which the character network centralities can be used as a clue for the valuation of character assets.
기업의 무형자산의 가치는 그 중요성에도 불구하고 측정에 대한 어려움이 존재하여, 오랜 기간 그 가치를 어떻게 평가할 수 있을지 활발히 연구되어 왔다. 그 중 미디어 산업에서의 캐릭터 가치는 산업의 빠른 성장성에도 불구하고, 그 가치를 정량적으로 평가하기에 적절한 방법이 존재하지 않는다는 문제가 있다. 본 연구에서는 소셜 네트워크 분석 (Social Network Analysis) 방법론을 활용하여 미디어 작품의 캐릭터 네트워크 특징이 인간의 검색 행위와 높은 상관성을 지닌다는 것을 밝힌다. 기존의 미디어 분야에서는 SNA 방법론을 활용하여 작품을 깊이 있게 분석하는 연구가 이루어져 왔다. 본 연구에서는 이에 더하여 미디어 작품은 인간의 행동에 영향을 줄 수 있는 힘을 지니고 있다는 점에 주목하여, 작품 내 캐릭터 네트워크 특징이 인간의 검색 행동에 영향을 줄 수 있을 것이라는 가정 하에 연구를 진행하였다. 연구분석 결과를 통해 미디어 작품의 캐릭터 네트워크 중심성 척도와 검색 데이터 간 상관성을 확인하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 캐릭터 네트워크 중심성 척도가 캐릭터 자산의 가치평가를 위한 단서로서 활용될 수 있음을 발견하였다.
