South Korea has the world's fourth-largest production capacity for the petrochemical industry. In addition, the petrochemical industry accounted for $42.6 billion of Korea's exports as of 2019, ranking fourth after semiconductors, automobiles and general machinery. As such, the petrochemical industry is a major infrastructure industry for national production and exports, accounting for 6.5 percent of South Korea's total manufacturing production and 7.5 percent of Korea's exports, driving the entire industry.
Nevertheless, most of the domestic marketing research was conducted on personal consumer goods, and most of the books related to B2B marketing also focused on differences from consumer goods marketing. Therefore, many companies in the petrochemical industry often rely on empirical judgment rather than management strategic approaches.
In this paper, the purpose of the study on B2B marketing strategy that has been done so far is to establish a strategy focusing on the petrochemical industry.
대한민국은 세계 4위 규모의 석유화학산업 생산능력을 보유하고 있다. 또한, 석유화학산업은 2019년 기준 대한민국 수출액 중 426억불을 차지하여 반도체, 자동차, 일반기계에 이어 4위를 기록하였다. 이처럼 석유화학산업은 국가생산과 수출의 주요 기반산업으로서 대한민국 전체 제조업 생산의 6.5%, 수출의 7.5%를 차지하며 산업 전체를 견인하고 있다.
그럼에도 불구하고 국내 마케팅 연구는 대부분 개인 소비재를 대상으로 이루어졌고, B2B 마케팅과 관련된 서적 역시 소비재 마케팅과의 차이점에 초점을 둔 내용이 대부분이다. 따라서, 석유화학산업의 많은 기업들 역시 경영전략적 접근보다는 경험적 판단에 의지하는 경우가 많다.
본 논문에서는 그 동안 이루어진 B2B마케팅 전략에 대한 연구를 석유화학산업 위주로 분석하고 전략을 수립하는데 그 목적이 있다.
