This study shows a predictable variation for the cross-section of return in the KOSPI market. Analyzing the value-weighted portfolio using stocks in the KOSPI market, most anomalies with speculative characteristics show lower Monday returns than the non-speculative anomalies. The opposite pattern is observed on Friday. The cross-sectional return patterns are consistent with an explanation in which decreasing mood on Monday leads to relatively low returns for speculative stocks and increasing mood on Friday leads to relatively high returns for speculative stocks. In addition, this pattern does not exist for non-speculative anomalies that are difficult to distinguish between speculative leg and non-speculative leg.
