We show that vapor-driven solutal Marangoni force is a promising flow actuator for the sessile-droplet-microfluidics device. This method is an extra-device-free active controller and there is no contamination of liquid sample. By placing a volatile liquid component having a lower surface tension compared to the sample liquid near the sessile droplet, the solutal Marangoni flow is generated and controlled. To design the Marangoni-driven flow controller, we develop a theoretical model based on scaling analysis that shows a good agreement with experimental results. We believe that the present study will motivate low-cost and portable sample flow control and mixing system for the near future.
