This study proposed principles to establish the foundation for the archival standardization of three-dimensional digital documentation in the process of cultural heritage conservation. They were drawn from analyzing the relationship between documentation variables related to digital techniques as recording tools and site variables related to cultural heritage as recording objects. By using 3D scanning as a non-image-based recording technique and by using photogrammetry as an image-based technique, in particular, the constituents concerning the attributes of digital technologies and their relevant mechanisms, recording environments, data acquisition processes and methodologies were understood. In addition, the interrelationship between the above technical components and the cultural heritage as recording objects was analyzed. As a result, the principles were presented for the establishment of the archival standardization which can lead to the rational decision making on 3D digital documentation. Its proposed methodology deals with a balanced view of aspects of digital technologies and heritage conservation and helps to reduce uncertainties while analyzing acquired data in the course of documentation. Results may be used as a basic guide to improve communication and to eliminate knowledge gaps between engineers as information producers and heritage specialists as information users concerning digital recording technologies and digital heritage documentation.
본 논문은 문화유산의 보존 과정에서 기록 도구로서 디지털 기술의 속성과 기록의 대상으로서 문화유산이 가진 속성의 관계성 분석을 중심으로 3차원 디지털 기록화의 아카이브 표준화를 구축하기 위한 기반을 조성할 수 있는 원칙을 제시하였다. 특히 거리 기반의 대표적인 기록 기술인 3차원 스캐닝 및 이미지 기반의 사진측량 기술을 중심으로 디지털 기술의 특성과 그에 따른 기술적 메커니즘, 기록 환경, 기록 취득 과정 및 방법론과 관련 된 변수를 파악하고, 기록 대상과 연계된 유적지에서 변수를 추출하여 3차원 디지털 기록화를 수행하기 위한 원칙을 제시한다. 본 논문에서 제시한 디지털 기록화의 아카이브 표준화 구축을 위한 원칙은 디지털 기술과 보존의 맥락을 모두 균형적으로 다루면서 기록화의 과정에서 나타날 수 있는 취득된 기록의 오류를 줄이기 위한 합리적인 의사 결정을 내릴 수 있는 방법론을 제시한데 의의가 있다. 본 연구는 디지털 기록화의 수행에 있어 문화 유산의 정보를 생산하는 기술 전문가와 문화유산 보존 전문가인 정보 사용자 사이의 디지털 기록 기술 및 기록 대상에 대한 이해의 간극을 줄이기 위한 소통의 구조를 설립하는데 기초 지침으로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
