Mobile video call services have started to support group function that allows multiple people to participate in one video call at the same time. However, the mobile group video call feature has a major challenge, in that it is difficult to distinguish who is speaking and who is speaking to whom. This study examined the interactions of 21 people in face-to-face and video call situations. Based on the results, I defined four categories of group conversation interactions and developed two interaction prototypes based on the differences observed between the two situations. The first prototype facilitated 4 group conversation interactions by adjusting the screen size. The second prototype facilitates interactions by capturing directional cues through moving the participant's screen. Verification experiments with 24 people confirmed that the two prototypes addressed the major challenge associated with mobile group video calls.
