Recently, There has been interest in space mission with not only large but micro satellites according to space technology developments. Also, Some large space structures have been high demand to complete the high level of requirements on the space missions. However, the storage space of satellite is limited. So the deployable structures are used on most of space missions to utilize the storage space and to reduce the launch costs. In this thesis, the characteristics of space deployable structures were investigated and a deployable truss boom structure, especially, was proposed which can improve the packaging ratio of the existing ones. The configuration and mechanism of the proposed model were explained. The geometric constraints to fully fold into planar form was analyzed. Then, the kinematic analysis was conducted in order to obtain the relationships among the parameters and the packaging ratio and final deployment length were analyzed. In addition, the dynamic model was established to check the behavior of structure according to the deployment drive force, and the behavior applied by elastic force was analyzed. Finally, a prototype is constructed to identify the feasibility of the proposed concept by selecting the design variables to enable meter-level deployment and then a deployment test is carried out.
