Storybooks, which are used in parent-child storytelling, are developed into interactive storybooks with more interesting functions combined with various digital technologies such as audio and animation. However, it has been studied that the interactivity interferes with the children's immersion in the story and lowers the communication between parents and children. In this study, we focused on how the character, which is the key element of the story progression, moves appropriately according to the story flow in order to enhance the enjoyment of the storytelling and the story immersion. For the first case, we studied 'Analogue PuppetBook', a character automatically moves in analog form. In the second case, we studied 'Digital PuppetBook', a concept that parents manipulate characters in digital form manually. When using ‘Analogue PuppetBook', the character has the advantage of feeling much more alive, but when it moves differently from the intention of the parents, it distract the story immersion. 'Digital PuppetBook' helped parents to express stories and attracted children's attention and interest, but character manipulation has the disadvantage of giving parents extra workload. Overall, it was discussed that the movement of a character should be able to reflect well the intention of tellers, to have appropriate meaning for the movements, and to be able to consider the reaction of the listeners. We also discussed the characteristics of parent-character relations according to the automatic or manual movements of the character, and the characteristics of the storytelling experience according to whether the character is analog or digital.
