Particulate matter related mobile healthcare application have received great attention in South Korea, as the recognition of medical threat of air pollution rapidly elevates. While several apps are already developed in the market few studies empirically examines the usage effect of applications. In this study, based on the clinical relation of particulate matter and pediatric otitis media, we evaluate the usage effect of an application based on (1) its potential moderation of particulate matter and (2) its role as rapid behavior trigger. We analysis otitis media diagnosis data set from 238 application user, collected from infants health care application ‘Yeolnayo’ , and 203 nonuser, collected form NHIS(Nation Health Insurance Service) within 6 month period. With the empirical model, we find a significant evidence that particulate matter level is higher for nonuser before diagnosis. This result is likely to support the potential usage effect of mobile healthcare application as a moderator of particulate matter on pediatric otitis media.
