Collaborative filtering is a widely used approach in recommendation systems due to their performance. However, there is a disadvantage that it is impossible to recommend new user or item that doesn't have a preference. This problem is called the cold start problem. In recent years, many hybrid recommendation systems have been proposed as a way to solve the cold start problem. However, most of them contain content-based objective terms that degrade the performance of recommendation, and require a complex optimization process. In order to solve these problems, we propose a hybrid recommendation system called content-based basis extracting autoencoder with column-dropout(CABA-CD). The proposed algorithm overcomes the disadvantages of the existing hybrid recommendation systems. Empirically, we demonstrate state-of-the-art performance for both warm start and cold start on benchmark datasets.
