The two-sided market refers to a market in which two different types of user groups interact with each other based on the platform, and the value created by the two groups depends on the size of the other group. When initially designing a two-sided market platform, which one of the user groups on both sides should be attracted first becomes an important issue, which is called chicken and egg problem. The purpose of this study is to establish a generalized model and to quantify the solutions of the chicken and egg problems in the early stage of the platform. Based on the Agent-based model, we simulated a model of users' utility on both sides of the two sided market platform, and found an optimal pricing strategy that can solve the chicken and egg problem under the assumption of various two-sided markets. Furthermore, we see how the initial pricing strategy changes as the total price charged by platform operators increases. It is meaningful to generalize the solutions to the chicken and egg problem because we face the paradigm shift to the platform economy.
