Recently, interest in environmental certification or eco-label has been continuously increasing due to the well-being trend of consumers. In this paper, considering eco-label policy as vertical product differentiation, I analyzed the market equilibrium when the eco-label system was introduced in a market with horizontal product differentiation. Furthermore, the certification standard for applying eco-label policy are presented according to market conditions. If the degree of horizontal product differentiation is large, the eco-label policy can be applied effectively only if the government sets a certification standard below a certain level. If the degree of horizontal product differentiation is small, different market equilibrium is achieved according to the eco-label standard. In addition, I analyzed by using spatial duopoly model that it is difficult to introduce eco-label policy as the cost to producers increases to get eco-label.
최근 소비자의 웰빙 트렌드로 인해 친환경 인증에 대한 관심이 지속적으로 증가해왔다. 본 연구에서는 친환경 인증 제도를 수직적 제품차별화로 이해하여, 수평적 제품차별화가 되어있는 시장에서 친환경 인증 제도가 도입되었을 때에 시장 균형을 분석하였다. 더 나아가 친환경 인증제도가 효과적으로 적용되기 위한 인증 기준을 시장 상황 별로 제시하였다. 수평적 제품차별화의 정도가 큰 경우에는 정부가 일정수준 이하의 인증 기준을 설정하여야만 친환경 인증제도가 효과적으로 적용될 수 있고, 수평적 제품차별화의 정도가 작은 경우에는 인증 기준에 따라 서로 다른 시장 균형을 이루게 된다. 또한 친환경 인증을 받기 위해 생산자가 부담해야 하는 비용이 커질수록 친환경 인증 제도를 도입하기가 어려워진다는 것을 복점 모형을 사용하여 분석하였다.
