Nanomaterials have been actively researched for optical, medical, and energy fields owing to their unique properties which have never been observed in bulk scale. Among them, one-dimentional nanostructures have been extensively studied for energy conversion and generation by virtue of their magnified electrochemical properties compared to bulk size materials due to their high aspect ratio and large surface areas. In particular, in order to overcome energy crisis which mankind faces, development of reliable energy storage systems as well as clean and sustainable energy sources are urgent. In this thesis, 1D organic/inorganic nanostructures were synthesized via an electrospinning process which is one of the most powerful methods for synthesis of 1D nanostructures and utilized for i) high performance anodes for lithium-ion batteries and ii) functional materials for high performance aqueous zinc-ion batteries. Electrochemical properties of the rechargeable batteries using the 1D nanostructures were also investigated. Moreover, I firstly demonstrated the formation of separators on wire type batteries which has been considered very difficult as well as porous frameworks which enables high active mass loading via core shell electrospinning with high scalability.
