In this thesis work, we implement a track-while-scan (TWS) radar software simulator in order to evaluate the performance of signal processing and tracking algorithms in actual radar systems.
This radar simulator consists of a signal processing part, a data processing part, and a display part. In the signal processing part, a specific radar environment can be generated. The reflected signals from the radar environment are then passed through the matched filter which corresponds to the pulse compression code used in the radar signal transmission. The resulting signal is then processed by a MTI filter and a Doppler filter bank. Using the filtered signal, a detector detects targets. In the data processing part, a tracking algorithm is executed using the prior target information. The display part finally displays the final results of chasing targets, depending on the signal processing and data processing algorithms selected.
