The low speed impact of foreign objects causes the damage which is usually invisible to naked eyes inside a composite laminate structure. The damage inside the structure gives rise to the degradation of strength considerably. For preventing composite laminate from low speed impact damage, using the sandwich structural concept was ued . The low cost impact skin and core absorb most of the applied impact energy as damage within them and protect the main composite laminate from the impact damage. The nonlinear analysis of a sandwich structure under static concentrated loading is done to study the stress distribution within constituents of the sandwich structure by a finite element code. The damage resistance of composite laminated sandwich plate is measured through drop weight impact test.
