Multi-user Index-based Data Access System(MIDAS) has been developed as a storage subsystem for relational databases. In this thesis, we extend MIDAS to conform functional requirements of Resource Manager(RM), which is a lower subcomponent of X/Open Distributed Transaction Processing(DTP) model. It provide MIDAS with better portability, interchangability and inter operability. The extension makes MIDAS a storage system capable of global transaction processings as well as local transaction processings. Furthermore we introduce multithreading features by using internal server management schemes. As a result, it is easy to integrate the extended MIDAS with Transaction Manager(TM) conforms to X/Open DTP model. The development of new RM provides TM with more alternative couplings and expands the scope of applications.
