In the high performance AC motor drive system, exact torque and speed control is required. For exact torque and speed control, good current controller is prerequisite. In this paper, predictive current control scheme for permanenet magnet synchronous motor drive described in the literature is presented and implemented using DSP. Steady-state and transient responses are presented by simulations and experiments. Nonlinear model of PMSM is linearized for controller design purpose using the theory of vector control. DSP-based full digital speed controller is implemented using linearized model and implemented current controller. Three different controllers are considered and their typical speed output and current command charicteristics are presented. The presented speed controllers are expected to be used in different applications.
