Numerical investigation has been conducted for the steady laminar mixed convection flows in an inclined parallel-plate duct with asymmetric constant wall- temperature conditions. The Navier-Stokes equations and energy equation are solved using SIMPLER Algorithm with QUICK Scheme.
For a given Reynolds number, the Grashof number and the temperature difference between the walls are varied. The calculation is carried out until the flow is fully developed. The results are in good agreement with earlier results. The flow plofile as the streamwise coodinate tends toward infinity, includes reverse flow in the vicinity of the cold wall. The reverse flow enhances the heat transfer to/from the wall. The effect of buoyancy on the local Nusselt number and friction coefficient it found to diminish as the inclination increases.
The Nusselt numbers for top-heated channels inclined at an angle φ and for the vertical one-sided heated channel are perfectly correlated by cosφ, i.e. Gr vs Grcosφ if the inclination angle is less than 45°.
