An implementation of a graphics board is the major work of this thesis. It is for a general purpose image processing system which consists of IBM-PC as its host, the graphics board and a DSP board for computing acceleration. To reduce the communication overhead among these building blocks, a parallel communication channel is implemented between the host and the graphic board. To support the high speed communication channel between the graphics board and the DSP board, dual port SRAMs are used. Some part of image processing software is ported on this system.
