In this thesis, a method of composing a Hangul character set has been proposed. Basic elements of Hangul character sets are identified and are parameterized. Complete character sets are then constructed from those elements by redefining the parameters according to the types of font. To facilitate the character set design, a font description language has been defined and each element of the characters is represented using a METAFONT-method which is modified to simulate the effects of an oriental brush. An interactive Hangul font design system realizing the proposed design method has been implemented.
