This thesis is concerned with generation and amplification of optical phase conjugate wave in dye solutions by Degenerated Four Mixing(DFWM).
Light source was a Q-switched ruby laser with wavelength of 6943$\dot{A}$. To improve the reflectivity of optical phase conjugation, R, a ruby rod was used as an amplifier and different kinds of dyes and solvents were tested as nonlinear medium for DFWM. The dyes tested were cryptocyanine and DOTCI(3,3'-Diethyloxatricarbocyanine iodide), and the solvents were methanol, DMSO(Dimethylsulfoxide) and glycerin. Among different combinations, DMSO and cryptocyanine was found to have the best reflectivity R. Using cryptocyanine and DMSO as nonlinear medium, a ruby amplifier was introduced for the further enhancement of the reflectivity R. The reflectivity of optical phase conjugation with the amplifier is defined as $R_{enh}$. Experimental results for maximum $R_{enh}/R$ was 6.3±0.38 with cryptocyanine and DMSO combination.
