Thomson scattering diagnostic system is used to measure the electron temperature and density of the plasma in fusion devices. In this thesis, first, KSTAR Thomson scattering diagnostic system is examined in detail. Then a forward model is constructed to evaluate the reliability of the electron temperature and density obtained by KSTAR Thomson scattering diagnostic system. By using the hardware specification of Thomson scattering diagnostic system, the photon budget of Thomson scattered light is estimated, which can be used to predict raw data when the electron temperature and density are given. With the predicted raw data, the electron temperature is estimated by applying the existing look-up table method. Then the estimated electron temperature is compared with the prescribed electron temperature to verify the reliability of KSTAR Thomson scattering system.
