The major objective of this thesis is to analizes the relationships between End-User Computing(EUC) attributes and its implementation.
Reviewing the related literatures this thesis categorized EUC attributes into three factors - relative advantage, compatability, complexity. With such conceptualization, this thesis proposed a hypothetical model which explains effect of the EUC attributes on its implementation. Under the assumption that EUC attributes affect its implementation differently according to the contingent factors, the model has the characteristics of contingent approach. The contingent factors included in this model were organizational support level of EUC and individual characteristics-computer experience, education level, age.
Data were collected from 177 end-users of 40 Korean business organizations. Hypotheses were tested using Pearson correlation, t-test, ANOVA. And MDA was used for additional analysis.
The major findings of this thesis are as follows;
1. The EUC attributes affect its implementation.
- The relative advantage of EUC, as perceived by the end-users, is positively related to its implementation.
- The compatability of EUC, as perceived by the end-users, is positively related to the its implementation.
- The complexity of EUC, as perceived by the end-users, is negatively related to the its implementation.
2. The relationships between EUC attributes and its implementation are stronger when organizational support level is high than low.
3. The relationships between EUC attributes and its implementation differ from individual characteristics.
- The relationships between EUC attributes and its implementation are stronger when computer experience is long than short.
- The relationships between EUC attributes and its implementation are stronger when education level is high than low.
But the findings should be interpreted with caution, since this study has several limitations in measurement and sampling method. Further research is suggested and encouraged with more elaborated methodology and suitable EUC implementation.
