The main objectives of this thesis are as follows :
i) identifying the major tasks which compose the application software acquisition process and ii) Analyzing the relationship between procedural characteristics of application software package acquisition and MIS performance.
Software acquisition process was considered to be composed of three stages such as project formulation, software acquisition, installation and on-going utilization. And the same logic was applicable to the case of application software acquisition.
Thirty core tasks which compose the 3 stages of application software package acquisition process were identified after reviewing the relevant literature. The model specifying the relationships between the procedural characteristics of application software package acquisition and MIS performance was established and 12 hypotheses were derived.
The hypotheses were tested empirically with data available from 41 Korean companies through interviews and questionnaires. the F-test, t-test, Mann-Whitney nonparametric test, correlation analysis were employed to test hypothese, and multiple discriminant analysis was used to validate the result of bi-variate analysis.
The major findings of this study were as follows :
i) user satisfaction is positively correlated with the quality of information system, and quality of information system is positively correlated with the quality of application software package which composed that information system.
ii) the degree of systemaization of requirement analysis and application software package buying process have positive influence on the quality of the application software package acquired.
iii) preparedness and carefulness of application software package installation have positive influence on the quality of the information system which is established by the installation of that package.
Further research with larger sample size and more elaborated research methodology will be needed to validate the results of this study more effectively.
본 연구에서는 다음과 같은 사실이 밝혀졌다.
1) 응용소프트웨어 패키지의 도입에 있어서 요구분석의 내용충실성이 높을수록, 선택기준의 내용충실성이 높을수록, 패키지 비교, 검토 및 선정과정의 내용충실성이 높을수록 보다 양질의 패키지를 도입할 수 있게 된다.
2) 요구분석과정, 최적 패키지 선정과정, 패키지 평가 및 선택기준 등의 중요성은 기업의 규모가 작을수록, 기업의 전산경험이 적을수록, 패키지 도입의 과정에 전산부서가 개입하지 않았을수록 더욱 크다.
3) 응용소프트웨어 패키지를 평가할 때는 기본적으로 패키지의 활용분야 혹은 적용범위, 패키지의 사용용이성, 패키지를 사용하는데 있어서 필요한 하드웨어의 조건, 패키지의 가격, 패키지의 입출력 조건, 패키지 공급자의 기술능력등을 검토하여야 하며, 이에 더하여 패키지의 반응시간, 패키지의 출력타이밍, 패키지 공급자가 제공하는 각종 서어비스의 질, 패키지 사용지침서의 질 등을 검토하는 것이 좋다.
4) 양질의 패키지를 도입한 경우 도입한 패키지의 설치작업을 충분한 계획 및 준비에 바탕하여 신중하게 수행하면 패키지 도입으로 인하여 얻게되는 효과를 극대화시킬 수 있다.
5) 패키지 설치의 과정에서 공급자로부터 많은 지원을 받을수록 패키지의 도입 및 운영으로 인하여 얻게 되는 효과를 극대화시킬 수 있으며, 이는 도입한 패키지의 질이 좋지 않을 경우에 더욱 중요하다.
6) 전산화 대상업무가 비구조적인 경우에는 패키지 설치작업에 더욱 많은 주의와 노력을 기울여야 하며, 그렇지 않을 경우 해당 업무에 대한 전산화는 실패할 가능성이 높다.
7) 양질의 패키지(범용성의 측면에서)와 그로 인하여 얻게 되는 양질의 정보시스템 (전용성의 측면에서)은 사용자의 만족도를 극대화시킴으로써 궁극적으로 기업 목적의 달성에 긍정적으로 이바지하게 된다.
