Described in this thesis is a CAPP system for hole machining on machining center.
Generation of alternatives for process plan from the part description code representing 2D cross section of hole and technological information is performed by three steps; 1) EMS extraction, 2) generation of alternatives for EMS tree, 3) search for available tools on each EMS tree. Alternatives for EMS tree are generated for all possible cases by considering the function of available process (tool family), and tools on each EMS tree are selected by considering required specification, pre-machined surface of workpiece and availability of tool.
Criteria for selecting one among the process plan alternatives are discussed and a method of NC code generation from the selected process plan alternative is described.
