It was attempted to investigate the leaching characteristics of solidified materials under sea-water condition. In static leaching test, three different leachants of sea water, acidic water, and distilled water were used.
Final pH of leachate after 24hr extraction period depended on characteristics of leachant and solidified materials. Soluble metal concentration in leachate was affected by leachate pH an metal solubility. Addition of fly ash resulted in decrease of leachate pH and increase of leachate metal concentration.
In dynamic leaching test of 60 days, it was found that cadmium released linearly with time while lead and chromium were diffusion limited type.
After 60 days of leaching period, physical properties of the samples indicated obvious erosion by sea water, and addition of fly ash was favorable for leaching-proof. Microscopic study on surface change of solidified materials was made with Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction analysis.
