Structural design, or more generally engineering design, is a complex process combinding design knowledge an analysis techniques. While analysis can be automated in a algorithmic fashion, relatively little work has been done in the area of design automation. An effect approach of automation engineering design would be a hybrid system, in which design knowledge, specification requirements, and Interpretation are representated using expert system methodology, and numericaly intensive operations of the design process are implemented a algorithmic language such as FORTRAN.
The object of this paper developed a expert system tool called K-CLIPS, so that designed and implemented this hybrid system. Also KCLIPS may be frame representation as well as production rule representation to construct a knowledge base. K-CLIPS can express the hierached knowledge more naturally with a smaller number of rules than other plain production system can, and used user's defined function.
