This study describes the characteristics of pressure control system using a flapper-nozzle type electromagnetic relief valve.
Although the valve is widely used in the industrial applications because of its cheap price and contamination insensitive property and simple implementation, the characteristics and details of pressure control mechanism is not well known.
The mathematical model of the pressure control system including the valve is derived, and its parameters are experimentally identified.
The simulation at the various operating condition show that the response characteristics mainly depends on the initial pressure of the system. Also the effect of some parameters on the system dynamics are investigated.
In addition, the suboptimal PI controller is designed based on the model and experimentally implemented. The controller performs well in practical situation.
