A CMOS one chip voltage regulator to be used with a generator in automobiles has been designed. The transfer function of the generator has been estimated by measuring the poles of field coil and armature coil. Proportional integral control scheme has been adapted to reduce the error. The proposed control scheme has been experimentally verified using commercially available operational amplifiers and a typical generator for automobiles.
Finally, the PI control circuit has been designed using CMOS technology. The designed circuit also includes both load response control and starting control circuit. The designed circuit has been simulated to verify the proper functioning. The simulation results showed better performance than existing voltage controller in terms of steady-state error.
In this thesis, CMOS one chip voltage regulator is designed, and designed voltage regulator has load response controller, starting controller, PI controller. And we find that PI controller decrease regulator error in steady state, increase stability of control system by simulation results.
