The purpose of this study was to analyze the contact stress of the artificial hip joint of conical fitting type being subjected to axial force and frictional force on the contact surface. Frictional force was such that sliding was just to stop. Computed results were compared with the ones by ANSYS ,which turned out to be favorable. Some examples were studied to know the effect of cone angle and the effect of its misfitting on contact stresses.
The results showed that stresses from the analysis with friction are smaller than those from the one without friction, and large cone angle produced small stresses.
