In this study, continuous modification technique with a beam element was developed in order to improve the SDM error from point mass and point stiffness modification.
The rotational motion at the modification points, which are imperatively required to do continuous modification, were calculated by continuous piecewise 3rd order polynomial curve fitting only using the translational motion at the nodal points.
The developed method was applied on several example structures and found that the analysis results from the continuous modification technique are in good agreements with the F.E.M. analysis of the modified structure.
