In this study, the prediction of fatigue life under random loading was performed, separating fatigue life into crack initiation life and crack growth one. For the prediction of fatigue crack initiation life cumulative damage rules of Modified-Miner's and Corten-Dolan's were used to accounted for load initiation effects. Fatigue crack growth equations in terms of effective stress intensity range and effective cyclic J-integral range were used to calculate fatigue crack growth life. Cyclic J-integral were estimated from Dugdale model. Fatigue lives predicted for transmission load history were founded to be in good agreement with the experimental results published by SAE.
