This thesis presents new methods for the estimation of displacement vector and moving objects extraction using difference picture.
Two methods of displacement vector estimation are proposed. One method estimates the displacement vector from the boundary of difference picture, the other from the regions of two consecutive difference pictures. Using the estimated displacement vector, moving objects are directly extracted from difference picture.
Since the proposed methods do not process grey-valued image, they have a short processing time and are suitable to real time processing.
From the experimental results, we observed that, if difference picture is well extracted, the proposed algorithm work well even in the circumstances of complex background, fast or slow motion, rotation etc., including occlusion where is not moving area.
