To enhance the performance in document retrieval processing, retrieval systems based on attribute or keyword have been studied by many researchers. But most of those studies have rarely distinguished between attribute and keyword. In this thesis, document retrieval processing based on the attribute and keyword having different nature is studied for efficient document retrieval.
First, an access path using keyword in addition to the access path using attribute is proposed. Next, a decision strategy is proposed in order to select one of two access paths. Finally the performance with regard to the average response time is analyzed.
