The Association Control Service Element is a part of the application layer in ISO 7-layer architecture. It provides a common association control service to application service elements in the application layer. The association means that accords a context - common data representation - to exchange information for communication in Open Systems Interconnection environment.
In this thesis, we implement the Association Control Service Element confirming to ISO standard and supplement the Association Control Service Element specification with a new context switching facility to improve the performance when it necessary to change context within an association. And we define the context switching facility not a functional unit but primitives in the Association Control Service Element and decrease a number of primitives for context switching facility because of simplicity and efficiency of the application layer. We describe the implementation detail of the Association Control Service Element with the context switching facility and analyze of our implementation.
