The researcher of this paper posits that SNS is representative of one's extended self and when users come into contact with advertisements on SNS, consumers experience privacy invasion which effects their attitudes and click through rates of the advertisement. Online surveys were used to collect data which were then analyzed using AMOS Path Analysis. Results show that consumers who considered their SNS as a representation of their extended self and had set their SNS space to private where only the user can see, felt higher levels of privacy invasion than those who had SNS accounts set as public where friends and third party users could see. In addition to these findings, a mediating effect of privacy invasion was attitude towards the advertisements which effected the degree of click through rates.
