To construct File Transfer, Access and Management(FTAM) Protocol in Open System Environment, it is necessary a common model, called as Virtual File Store(VFS), to absorb various differencies between existing file stores. FTAM services and protocol are defined by this VFS, and the differencies between VFS and real file stores are mapped by implementation of mapping functions.
In this thesis, the design of the Virtual File Store that is realized on UNIX 4.2 bsd and the implementation of mapping function between the Virtual File Store and real file store are presented. In Virtual Fil Store design part, file structure, file attributes, file operations, and file store management function are considered and designed based on ISO Virtual File Store model. And, in implementation of mapping function, how to realize the Virtual File Store operations on real file system interface is presented.
